The hot sticky humid air of summer is right around the corner. For any girl who has long hair, you know that awful feeling of your hair sticking to the back of your neck. Not to mention a good hairstyle gone bad because it’s just too dang hot outside to hold those loose curls.
Ponytails can often be misconstrued as a lazy hairstyle. I know I can often feel frumpy when I try to pull my hair back, or even look a little boyish. So it’s time to find some really uniques ponytails that I can create and still look glamorous.
For all those pool parties and backyard get-togethers in the sweltering heat, you need to be able to find a cute ponytail to really mane-tain that stylish look. Haha… get it?
Fun and Unique Ponytails
Knot Your Average Ponytail. Love the name but love that it’s a super simple ponytail you can easily create. It also still looks chic and put together even though it will only take you minutes to do. And better yet, it can be created with straight or curly hair and even yesterday’s dirty hair too.
Runway Reay Low Ponytail. This look was a big hit at fashion week. But thank goodness you don’t need a professional stylist to recreate this super sleek ponytail. It only takes a few simple steps and you will soon have a straight and styled ponytail ready to go anywhere.
Dutch Mohawk Ponytail. This amazing ponytail is so fun to create and will not only get your tresses off your neck but will get those pesky bangs off your face too. I love styles that add braids to it and we’ve seen a lot that is right on top of the head. Combine that look with a great pony and you will have a super fun style to wear.
Straight Ponytail with Braids. If you are getting a little tired of everything curls lately, then this is a great alternative. You don’t see styles that include a dozen little braids so that makes this look extra unique. The best part is you can tailor it to the way you want. Add as many or as little braids are you want. It’ll look good on short ponys or super long ones.
Party Perfect Pony. This glam look is perfect for those summer weddings or low back dresses you might wear. It’s another easy way to create the look but adds a touch of classiness to an otherwise regular ponytail. The little twists at the side are my favorite and I’ve tried that trick with half up looks as well.
Easy Twisted Pony. From small twists to a big one! How adorable is this look from the Beauty Department? A good low ponytail is always sought after and this one is just perfect. It almost doesn’t even look like a ponytail with the unique twist used to create this look. Create this look super fast and you will always look put-together (even when you’re not).
The Perfect Ponytail. The name says it all! Another great look created by the beauty department and also uses a unique twist. Most uniques ponytails are created by separating the hair into sections and using either the top or sides to wrap around the base of the ponytail. This look is a higher up style that can look great for a day or a night look.
The Longer Fuller Ponytail. I’m sure you’ve seen this simple trick before but never actually tried it. Well now here is the time. If done right, your hair will look thicker, fuller and your ponytail will look a lot less plain then it used it. This tutorial will walk you through it step by step to make sure you create this look correctly and not look like you just have two ponytails on your head!
The Party Ponytail. This look will definitely get you glam-party ready. But the simple nature of it will look amazing anywhere you go. The slicked-back look on top is perfect for second-day hair when you just don’t have time for a shower. Add some great eye makeup and you have a perfect night-out look as well.
Wrapped Side Ponytail. Side ponytails have made a huge comb back in recent years. But if you want to look like you have graduated past the 80’s then you need to learn how to dress it up a little. This simple look adds smooth and loose curls to a low pony to give it a very updated yet unique look.
The Textured Ponytail. I love the way that this style uses pieces of hair to weave in and out to create this look. This would be an amazing look for second-day hair or if you just love that messy style. Instead of the perfect messy bun, this is the perfect messy ponytail!
Fancy Side Pony. I literally have never seen a look like this before. If you are looking for a really unique ponytail, then look no more. You will have people stopping you and asking you how the heck you created this look. This tutorial is so easy to follow, you’ll be wanting to recreate this look everywhere you go. Try it with straight or curly hair and add a cute flower or pin to really finish off the look.
Everyday Flip Twist Ponytail. If you haven’t guessed by now, adding twists to your pony is really the thing to do! This look is no exception. Instead of small twists added in, try these bigger twists that go directly into the ponytail. Curl your pony in nice loose waves and you will have a unique ponytail that will get you noticed by everyone.
Effortless High Ponytail. Every time I’ve tried to create a high ponytail, it just never looks quite right. Or it has about a million bumps in it. This tutorial helps set it straight. By remembering to separate your bang and add them last (but also giving the extra attention) you really can create this glam look effortlessly.
Summer Perfect Ponytail Hairstyle. If you are looking for a good go-to style you can do every day in the summer, look no further. You can also tailor this pony to be high, low, or to the side to give it a slightly different look every time you create it.
Easy Bubble Ponytail Hairstyle. Finding sleek and easy ponytails can be tough, but finding a truly unique ponytail style is even harder. I love love love this look because it’s honestly unique and super creative. It obviously works much better for the longer hair crowd but is a great style for those humid environments.
